Carpenter Bees
Carpenter bees (sometimes called "wood bees" or "borer bees") are stocky bees that look a lot like bumblebees at first glance. But there's a difference. If you look closely, the abdomen of a carpenter bee is smooth and shiny, whereas the abdomen of a bumble bee is covered with fine hairs.
Carpenter bees scare people by buzzing around like dive-bombers, but they rarely sting. In fact, the males don't even have stingers. The reason people hate carpenter bees is because they drill holes in wood, especially fascia board, window frames, wooden outdoor furniture, wooden playground equipment, and pretty much anything else made out of wood. The holes are perfectly round and look like a carpenter drilled them. That's why these bees are called "carpenter bees."
Carpenter bees are also difficult to treat because often you need a ladder or cherry-picker to reach the holes. No worries, though. We have ladders and cherry pickers, along with men brave enough to use them. In fact, we can handle any carpenter bee job, no matter how big, how high, or how difficult. We're Georgia's leader in carpenter bee extermination and damage repair.
