Fire Ant Control in Georgia

Fire antsFire ants are aggressive, stinging ants that are found throughout Georgia, where our mild winters and an abundance of food make life easy for them. Fire ants usually live in the ground and feed mainly on insects and other small invertebrates, although they will also east carrion and young plants.

Fire ants usually build dome-shaped nests in the soil. The nests range in size from a few inches to several feet in diameter and height, and may contain hundreds of thousands of ants. Inside the nest is a network of underground galleries that may extend several feet underground vertically, and several feet out from the edge of the mound horizontally. Fire ants build nests in open fields, lawns, along sidewalks, and almost anywhere else soil can be found, as well as in mechanical and electrical boxes.

When fire ants attack, they do so in force. Their stings can be quite painful and usually cause a rash that burns with a fiery sensation. Allergic individuals can die from fire ant stings. This is definitely not a "do-it-yourself" pest control job. So play it safe. Call Rid-A-Critter, your Georgia fire ant control experts, for a prompt appointment with one of our fire ant control experts.
