Mosquito Control

Culex mosquitoMosquitoes are small, flying insects, the females of which live on the blood of warm-blooded animals. (Male mosquitoes live mainly on fruit juices and don't consume blood at all.) All mosquitoes begin their lives as eggs laid in or near water, and go through complete metamorphosis. Adult female mosquitoes must consume at least one blood meal before they can lay eggs.

Mosquitoes in Georgia are known to transmit several serious diseases. The most common by far is West Nile Virus (WNV), which can be spread by mosquitoes to humans and animals, including domestic animals, horses, and livestock. Mosquitoes are also vectors of the parasite that causes dog heartworm, which if left untreated, can be serious or fatal to dogs.

Rid-A-Critter's mosquito control program emphasizes habitat reduction and other non-toxic control measures as our preferred methods of mosquito control. However, this isn't always possible; so when necessary, we use judicious application of pesticides to directly control larval or adult mosquitoes, depending upon the time of the year and other factors. (One thing we don't do, however, is use automatic misting machines. All insecticides are applied by a qualified technician who is a real human being.)

We also provide one-time mosquito control for outdoor weddings, parties, church functions, barbecues, family reunions, and other outdoor events. This service can help make your event a success by reducing the annoyance of mosquitoes buzzing around your guests.
