Snake Removal and Control
One thing we have in abundance in Georgia is snakes. In fact, there are approximately 40 species of snakes known in Georgia, of which six are venomous ("poisonous") snakes. The six venomous snakes are the copperhead, canebrake (or timber) rattlesnake, the eastern diamondback rattlesnake, the pygmy rattlesnake, the water moccasin (or "cottonmouth") snake, and the eastern coral snake.
Snakes are actually beneficial animals because they eat loads of rats, mice, and other rodents. In general, they should be left alone. But when snakes -- especially venomous snakes -- get too close to human-occupied areas like homes, schools, and playgrounds, they have to be removed.
